So cute。 A book about loving your body written in rhythmic rhyme。 It depicts the many things a body can do while acknowledging that our bodies don't always do what we want。 My favorite page of the book states "I love my body because it has lightning bolts and tiger stripes that glitter in the sun。" The two page spread depicts female presenting kids with stretch marks and skin discolorations。 How beautiful! Not as successful or radical as Bodies are Cool!, but still a welcome addition to children's lit that celebrates the many ways our bodies look and move, and all the things they can do! I love the prompt to continue the sentence "I love my body because"。Themes: Body Justice, Consent, We're All the Same/We're All DifferentAge range: Preschool-First grade Not as successful or radical as Bodies are Cool!, but still a welcome addition to children's lit that celebrates the many ways our bodies look and move, and all the things they can do! Delightful! I LOVE that one of the people has stretch marks (tiger stripes)。 It also mentions lightning bolts that I'm hoping are varicose veins :) Delightful! We have rep here for different weights, skintones, and genders。 Hijabi, Sikh, amputee, wheelchair, those crutch cane things, yarmulke, different bathing suits and cloths and emotional states。 One girl with glasses。 I think a hearing aid apparatus or insulin pump (also child with headphones either for a sensory issue or hearing aid。 We do not have anyone with a probing cane (blind) which given the lengths of inclusivity elsewhere feels weird。 Also I guess it's an older person's cane but it was we We have rep here for different weights, skintones, and genders。 Hijabi, Sikh, amputee, wheelchair, those crutch cane things, yarmulke, different bathing suits and cloths and emotional states。 One girl with glasses。 I think a hearing aid apparatus or insulin pump (also child with headphones either for a sensory issue or hearing aid。 We do not have anyone with a probing cane (blind) which given the lengths of inclusivity elsewhere feels weird。 Also I guess it's an older person's cane but it was weird to me that we have a couple instances of crutch canes but no crook cane。 。。。more

An ode to the body beautiful。 Not everyone has the same body, but everyone has a body, and the point is driven home in this poetic picture book。

A wonderful children’s bookAnand’s I Love My Body Because is a simple and short children’s book trying to promote body acceptance and diversity。 The drawings are well thought out and inclusive and the words are also exquisitely chosen。 This is a great read for anyone who want to provide a space for their children in an increasingly polarizing and frustrating world。

Beautiful, diverse illustrations showing all sorts of bodies。 This book gives realistic body positivity goals because it recognizes that sometimes our bodies feel wrong and bad, and that's okay as long as we do our best to remember the good aspects of our bodies and don't judge others for their bodies。 No 2 bodies are exactly the same, that's one of the coolest things about them!   This is a great book for any child。 I often see body-positive focused on only girls which is great as girls statistically have a higher critical image of their physical form, but I also love that this book is body-positive to all genders, abilities, ethnicity, and even religions。 This book is just a celebration of the human form and I hope there are more like it in the future。

This is a wonderful book I wish I had as a kid! Everyone with a body should read it -- even adults! Such a good reminder of all the ways our bodies help and support us every day。 Our bodies are our first homes!! So true。 I'm so happy this book exists now。 Thanks, Shelly & Nomi! This book will help children think about themselves and others around them。 It talks about how we look, move, think, and play。 With colorful illustrations it shows that although everyone is different, we all share similar days。 It will open up conversations about what they love about their bodies and how we don’t have to be the same to share and love our life。
